One year ago, my local Pagan group held its first-ever virtual Sabbat - Beltane of 2020. At that time, we were starting to realize the gravity of what the pandemic would bring. Off-handed statements of “It will all be over in a month or two” were starting to fade as COVID-19 took the world by… Continue reading Beltane in a Pandemic – One Year Later

Self-Compassion Ritual – Pandemic Edition
Our modern society doesn’t teach us self-compassion. Quite the opposite. It teaches us self-criticism, shame, guilt, and blame. It tells us that we have to follow the rules, meet its unrealistic expectations, and practically achieve perfection before we are worthy of loving ourselves. This, quite frankly, is an utter load of crap.
Adaptive Spiritual Practice for Pagans: A Response to Challenging Times – Part Two
In my previous post, I discussed the need for us to adapt our spiritual practices to better address these challenging times. In this post, we will cover how to navigate changes in your practice, including examining your view of devotion and trying new things. Cultivating an adaptive spiritual practice needs to take place in the context of your life. This means that you have to leave space for the unexpected and acknowledge your need for rest.
Adaptive Spiritual Practice for Pagans: A Response to Challenging Times – Part One
I don’t know about you, but for me, pandemic fatigue has been kicking my butt the past few weeks. It’s hard to feel inspired when just getting through the day is difficult. I am an advocate for living, evolving, personal religion. I believe that spirituality should be applicable to modern life, and it should support us and nourish us. When our spiritual practices are no longer relevant to our circumstances, it is time for them to change.
A Ritual for Radical Acceptance, Fierce Love, and Divine Surrender
I led this ritual for my Pagan group on the June 2020 Full Moon last Friday. Current events have brought institutionalized racism to the front and center in the United States, while the COVID-19 pandemic still wreaks havoc on our ill-prepared country. The murders of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and George Floyd are but some of the most recent in a long history of injustice toward black Americans. BLACK LIVES MATTER.
Prayers to Aphrodite: For Courage
I encourage you to make this prayer your own. Ask for what you specifically need. Take out any parts that don't resonate with you. Make it come from your heart. You may also wish to make an offering to Aphrodite (a physical offering or an offering of action) or set up an altar to Her, though these things are not necessary. The only necessary part is that you say your prayer with love.
Devotions to Aphrodite: Self-Care in the COVID-19 Pandemic – Honoring Your Needs
So, the world is still a bonkers place. COVID-19 isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. It’s taking its toll, mentally and physically, on me and everyone I know. I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to talk about self-care and how we can honor our needs during this turbulent time.
Ocean Cleansing Meditation with Aphrodite
I feel like we could all use an energetic reset during these troubling and uncertain times. This cleansing meditation is a version of something I spontaneously wandered into during my last deep meditation with Aphrodite. It was so powerful for me that I wanted to share it. I also made a video for the guided meditation!
Living with OCD in the Time of Coronavirus
I’ve been wanting to write a post about my experience with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) for a while now, but I haven’t for several reasons: 1) It’s a very personal thing to share, 2) it is painful and anxiety-provoking to talk about, and 3) it never really fit in with the spiritual theme of the rest of my blog. However, now that we are literally facing a global pandemic - I figure it is as good of a time as any.
Soup for Cerridwen – Sweet Potato and Barley
Every time I make soup for Cerridwen, the recipe is different. I used to have a recipe that I riffed off of, swapping out ingredients and adding or subtracting things. This most recent time, I had to completely abandon all hopes of using a recipe.
