Ritual: Weaving Joy and Play into the Everyday

I led this ritual for the holiday of Beltane this year, but its sentiments are appropriate throughout Beltane season (and really, all year long!). The full moon this weekend would be a wonderful time to perform this ritual. You will need three strands of ribbon, yarn, or thread - red, orange, and yellow. If you donโ€™t have those specific colors, you can pick other colors that symbolize these themes for you, or even color the ends of some plain twine with a marker. This ritual was originally performed with a group, but here it has been modified for individual practice.

Devotions to Aphrodite: Nail Art

One of the most consistent devotions to Aphrodite that I have practiced for the past (almost!) two years is nail painting/art. Iโ€™ve never been good at taking care of my hands. Even before things got really bad and I got my official OCD diagnosis, I washed them way too much. Finding the joyful self-care of painting my nails as a devotional activity for Aphrodite has helped me to treat my hands better.

Affirmations: I Trust in My Joy

I thought it would be nice to start off the new year with an affirmation: I trust in my joy. Do you currently trust in your joy? What is your relationship to joy and pleasure? Do you embrace joy or shy away from it? How does joy show up in your life? How does it impact the decisions you make and how you show up in the world?

Beltane Ritual 2024 – You Deserve Joy!

I led the following Beltane ritual on calling more joy into your life for my Pagan group last Sunday. Today (May 1st) is traditional Beltane. Astronomical Beltane (the official calendar midpoint between the spring equinox and the summer solstice) falls on May 4th this year. To me, Beltane is a season - I celebrate for about a fortnight centered around the beginning of May.
