Prayers to Aphrodite: For Hope

O Great Aphrodite,
Goddess of light in darkness,
Lady of roses among thorns,
Creatrix of pearls from sand,
Please grant me hope
For the months and years ahead

Inspire me to see the stars in the night,
Nurture me to blossom as a lotus in the mud,
Fuel me with the joy and love
That comprise the greatest resistance

O Radiant Goddess,
Take my tired body and my battered spirit,
And forge me anew
Take this deep despair and overwhelming anguish,
And transform them into courage and strength
Take this blinding outrage and fury,
And use them as kindling for action

I am the calm and the storm,
The love and the lightning,
The flower and the briar,
The salve and the spear

O Far-Shining One,
May I be a beacon of your light in the world,
Of your love,
Your joy,
Your compassion
And may I never forget
That your light is within me always
